Please join us on January 12, one day after the ninth anniversary of Guantanamo, to hear noted speakers H. Candace Gorman (War Criminals Watch advisor), Dr. Frank Summers and Sister Dawn Nothwehr address issues of torture and detention.
H. Candace Gorman, is a civil rights attorney who is currently representing two Guantanamo detainees. She was featured in Ron Suskind's book, The Way of the World: A Story of Truth and Hope in an Age of Extremism.
Dr. Summers, Ph.D., ABPP, is a supervising and training analyst at the Chicago Institute for Psychoanalysis and an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Northwestern University Medical School and president of Psychoanalysts for Social Responsibility and has worked to prohibit psychologists from participating in detention centers.
Sister Dawn Nothwehr, O.S. F., M.A., Ph.D., is a Professor of Catholic Theological Ethics at the Catholic Theological Union and a frequent speaker on issues of social justice in the Catholic Church. She is the author of several books and contributed to an essay on the Catholic position on torture in a volume produced by the United Methodist Church on the position of major religious groups against torture.
