Panel Discussion:

Now in its tenth year, the Boston Lawyers Division of the Federalist Society presents, as part of its Shakespeare and the Law series, a staged reading of Henry V, followed by a panel discussion of the law and war -- including the role of patriotism, the treatment of enemy combatants, the trial of foreign terrorists, and the use of torture. The event is hosted by Andrew H. Card Jr., former White House Chief of Staff, and features former D.C. U.S. Attorney and now General Counsel to Raytheon Co., Jay B. Stephens, as Henry. Participants also include U.S. federal judges Nathaniel M. Gorton, George A. O'Toole, Patti B. Saris, Douglas P. Woodlock, and Rya Zobel. Also featured are Kerry M. Healey, former Lt. Governor of Massachusetts, Michael Sullivan, former Mass. U.S. Attorney and Acting Director, ATF, John T. Montgomery, Managing Partner, Ropes & Gray, criminal defense attorney J.W. Carney Jr., Jennifer Nassour, Chair, Mass GOP, and Jeff Jacoby, Syndicated Columnist. The reading will be directed by Steven Maler, Artistic Director of Commonwealth Shakespeare Company (producer of free Shakespeare on Boston Common). The panel discussion will be moderated by Lawyers Division chair and McCarter & English partner, Daniel J. Kelly, and will feature John Yoo, Professor of Law, Berkeley Law, U. Cal., Michael Avery, Professor of Law, Suffolk University, and Shakespeare and Politics scholar Bernard Dobski of Assumption College.
