John D. Negroponte, Bush intelligence czar, will present the George F. Kennan Award for Distinguished Public Service to General David H. Petraeus, Commander, U.S. Central Command and architect of the Iraq surge at a Gala Dinner of the National Committee on American Foreign Policy. The Gala Dinner/Awards Ceremony will be held at the Union League Club. The attendees will also be addressed by Richard Holbrooke, Henry Kissinger and Paul Volcker. The demonstration outside will begin at 6:15 pm and is the second part of a two-tier event. At 5:00 people will gather at Grand Central Station, with a large number wearing orange jumpsuits, for a dramatic tableau. At 6:00, we will leave Grand Central and proceed to the Union League Club. Banners will state "Torture is a War Crime: Prosecute" and "War Criminal Free Zone." We will have posters of Petraeus and Negroponte and the crimes of which they are accused. Also, there will be leaflets and buttons saying "Torture is a War Crime: Prosecute." Join with World Can't Wait, Code Pink, Peace Action NYS, Raging Grannies, Price Tag Arts and others. Bring your own posters and banners if you wish. Click here to see the Grand Central page. For further info, contact: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
