As the majority of men at Guantánamo are on their fourth month of hunger strike in protest of more than 11 years of indefinite detention without charge or trial, join the Center for Constitutional Rights and Culture Project for this timely event, moderated by Ari Melber, co-host on MSNBC's daily show "The Cycle," correspondent for The Nation magazine, and writer of "The Law of Politics" blog on MSNBC.com. Ari is an attorney as well as a journalist and television host.
The evening will feature the first NYC screening of a short film about CCR's client Djamel Ameziane. Djamel is an Alegerian man who has been detained at Guantánamo without charge since 2002, and cleared for release by both the Bush and Obama administrations. He has been on hunger strike since February 2013.
The film screening will be followed by a rich discussion about Guantánamo with a diversity of speakers including actress and activist legend Vanessa Redgrave, and end with short readings of the words of the men still trapped at the prison.
