Description

Why join us?

June is Torture Awareness Month and June 26 is the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture. Join us to show our elected officials that we say “NO!” to torture, Guantanamo, indefinite detention and impunity for human rights violations! We are calling on President Obama and Congress to: uphold the absolute ban on torture and other ill-treatment; close Guantanamo; bring an end to indefinite detention and military commissions; demand accountability for human rights violations; repeal of Sections 1021 and 1022 of the 2012 National Defense Authorization Act, and release, with as few redactions as possible, the Senate Intelligence Committee report on CIA torture.

Please come to this public vigil to mark the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture. We will be standing against torture, Guantanamo, indefinite detention and the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) - and for human rights!

Where: New York City Hall (Centre Street and Brooklyn Bridge Promenade)

Note: We’ll have orange jumpsuits for you!
