Description

This event will be in Room 407A.

Join us for a panel discussion about the violations of human rights
currently occurring at the US detention facilities at Guantanamo and at
Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan. UK resident Shaker Aamer has been held
without charge or trial for ten years, prompting global outrage and an
international campaign for his release. The recent passage of the
National Defense Authorization Act has further enshrined indefinite
detention and the unjust Guantanamo military commissions in US law.
  Come and learn more about these policies and the actions that lawyers,
human rights advocate, and activists are taking to oppose them.

Panelists include:
Colonel Morris Davis, former Chief Prosecutor at Guantanamo and outspoken critic of US detention policies;
Ramzi Kassem, attorney for Shaker Amer; and
Andy Worthington, author of The Guantanamo Files and the world's
leading researcher of the men detained at the prison. Sponsored by Amnesty International, Witness Against Torture, and the New School History Department.
