To the people of Spain:

On April 16th, the Obama administration released four infamous Bush Regime “torture memos” that justified and orchestrated the torture of named individuals in horrendous detail. All persons of conscience consider open torture by the United States not only immoral but wrong on every level. 

At the same time, President Obama said that his administration would not prosecute those who did the torture.  His administration clarified that they also will not prosecute the war criminals responsible for the legal memos justifying and resulting in torture. This is intolerable and inexcusable.

We, the undersigned, are asking the people of Spain to continue in the struggle to bring all those who are responsible for war crimes and crimes against humanity to justice.  We must all stand together in the fight to protect others from harm as perpetrated by individuals in the United States upon innocent people around the world, for now and for the future of our children.

We condemn these acts of torture and violence in our names.  We will not silently stand by and watch while international standards of morality are being violated and the perpetrators walk free.

We pledge to continue to build in the United States a mass movement that demands prosecution.  Indictment in Spain will help create an atmosphere of intolerance for war criminals, making prosecution in the United States more possible.  We salute the people of Spain for your role in this world-wide struggle!

Al pueblo de España,

El 16 de abril, el gobierno de Obama dió a conocer los infames "memos de tortura" pertenecientes at regimen de Bush. Estos memos justificaron y orquestraron la tortura de individuos identificados en los memos junto con horrendos detalles. Todos aquellos con conciencia consideran la tortura expuesta por los Estados Unidos no sólo inmoral pero equivocada en todos los niveles.

Al mismo tiempo, el Presidente Obama expreso que su administración no va a enjuiciar a aquellos que cometieron actos de tortura. También han clarificado que tampoco van a enjuiciar a los criminales de guerra responsables por los memos legales que justificaron y resultaron en tortura. Esto es intolerable y inexcusable.

Nosotros, los que firmamos esta carta, estamos pidiendo a la población de España que continuen con la lucha para traer a la justicia a todos aquellos que son responsables por los crimenes de guerra y crimenes en contra de la humanidad. Debemos unirnos en la lucha para protejer a todos del daño que individuos de los Estados Unidos han cometido a inocentes en todo el mundo, ahora y en el futuro.

Condenamos todos los actos de tortura y violencia hechos en nuestro nombre. No nos quedaremos en silencio observando mientras los estandares de moralidad internacionales se violan y los perpetuadores caminan libremente.

Nos comprometemos a continuar construyendo un movimiento en los Estados Unidos que demanda enjuiciamiento. El procesamiento en España va a ayudar a crear una atmósfera de intolerancia de crimenes de guerra, y hacer más posible el enjuiciamiento en los Estados Unidos.
