Description

Tucked amid the jagged mountain ranges of Yemen resides the sleepy town of Bayt Ghazy. Home to an idyllic agrarian community, it also provides the backdrop for the heartrending documentary “Waiting for Fahd,” which tells the story of Fahd Ghazy, a Yemeni national unlawfully detained at Guantánamo since he was 17. Fahd is now 30.

Through moving interviews with his beloved family, “Waiting for Fahd” paints a vivid portrait of the life that awaits a man who, despite being twice cleared for release, continues to languish at Guantánamo, denied his home, his livelihood, and his loved ones because of his nationality.

Waiting for Fahd

Join CCR for the world premiere of “Waiting for Fahd,” a rarely heard story of Guantánamo prison and one man’s dream deferred, screening December 8th at the Culture Project. The film will be followed by a short program and talk-back that explores the power of storytelling, the basic human rights denied those who are still held without charge or trial at Guantánamo, and ways that an informed public an advocate for an end to the injustice of indefinite detention.
