Protest at the White House on the anniversary of the US attack on Afghanistan organized by a coalition of World Can't Wait, Cindy Sheehan, National Campaign for Nonviolent Resistance, Witness Against Torture, Activist Response Team, Veterans for Peace, Code Pink and others.  We are calling for withdrawal of all U.S. troops from Afghanistan, ending the illegal bombing with US drones, including neighboring Pakistan, and the closing of the Bagram prison and ending indefinite detention and torture. We are calling for an end to these wars and occupations, including that of Iraq. 

We will be gathering at McPherson Square (15th and I Streets NW) at 10 a.m. and then silently processing (two and a half blocks) to the White House.  World Can't Wait will display & perform the Bush Regime Torture Museum as a way of showing the press and public the techniques authorized by the torture team.  While all these techniques should /only/ be in museums, we have a president who just announced he will continue to detain people indefinitely on the same authority Bush used.  Detention facilities in Bagram, Afghanistan, have been doubled, and Obama administration plans to look into even investigating those who authorized torture is being continually narrowed. Cindy Sheehan & Ann Wright, who will have just landed from a trip to Afghanistan, will address the crowd.  The coalition is planning varied actions of non-violent civil resistance.  Supporters, people to do outreach to the public, and photographers are all needed. Come, be visible in the streets, to the press, in front of the White House!
