Chicago ProtestReport from Chicago: At 8 am this morning, we gathered at the Federal Building to demand "No Torture, No Guantanamo" in the midst of a near-blizzard. A young man from Christian Peacemaker Teams read aloud the names and countries of origin of all the men still held without trial in the hellhole of Guantanamo. Activists with 8th Day Center for Justice, Voices for Creative Non-Violence and World Can't Wait all joined in the moving reminder of the crimes being committed in our name. Several people in orange jumpsuits blocked the doors to the Federal Courthouse and were arrested and removed by Chicago City Police, who have their own sordid history of torturing young Black men.
